Obstetrics Care

Live Oak Women’s Care is dedicated to providing patients with compassionate and comprehensive care before, during and after pregnancy. Our most important goals are a healthy mom and a healthy baby. Along with personalized care and attention, we’re here to offer education and information to help you prepare for pregnancy, childbirth and caring for your newborn.

The Central Texas Medical Center Birth Experience

Live Oak Women’s Care is proud to deliver at Central Texas Medical Center. We know the birth of your child is one of the most miraculous moments your family will ever experience.  With this in mind, our new Women’s Center has been specially designed to provide you and your family with an exceptional birthing experience in a spa-like atmosphere.

For infants who may come a little early or require special care, CTMC has a state-of-the-art Level II NICU to provide for your infant’s needs. We have an in-house neonatologist to care for your infant(s) during your stay who will then transfer care of your newborn to the physician of your choice upon discharge. Mothers whose infants have to stay in the hospital after mom has been discharged are offered a guest room and three meals a day to remain close to their infants during this time.

Learn what to expect during your childbirth and how you and your partner can get ready by attending the Gift of Motherhood Childbirth Classes offered by the Women’s Center. You should attend classes after your 28th week of pregnancy. Topics include: your pregnant body, stages of labor, support person’s role, comfort and coping skills (including breathing techniques, water therapy, movement in labor, birthing ball), medical interventions, medications in labor, cesarean section, your newborn, postpartum and breastfeeding.

The CTMC Women’s Center is currently leading the nation in patient satisfaction scores. For several rating periods in a row, CTMC has placed among the top 1% of hospitals in the nation.  We sincerely hope your stay with us is of equal quality.

HPV Vaccinations

Live Oak Women’s Care offers the HPV vaccination. Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is given as a series of 3 injections over 6 months. It helps protect patients under the age of 26 against cervical, vulvar, vaginal and anal cancers caused by 9 types of the human papillomavirus (HPV). This vaccination also helps to protect against genital warts.

Gynecological Care and Surgeries

Dr. Curtis is experienced in providing gynecological care throughout a woman’s lifetime. We offer basic gynecological services, such as routine pap smears, as well as gynecological surgery. When you’re facing surgery, the technology that will be used isn’t usually the first thing you think about–you’re more concerned with a quick recovery, as little pain as possible, and getting back to normal life!

Live Oak Women’s Care has good news… our surgeons now offer many types of minimally invasive surgery, including robotically-assisted surgery with the new da Vinci Robot.

Robotic Surgery

With the da Vinci Surgical System, surgeons operate through just a few small incisions. The da Vinci System features a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and tiny wrist instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human hand. As a result, da Vinci enables your surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision and control.

The da Vinci System represents the latest in surgical and robotics technologies. Your surgeon is 100% in control of the da Vinci System at all times. da Vinci technology translates your surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, precise movements of tiny instruments inside your body.
